Dolgoch Falls
Dolgoch Falls have been voted the best waterfalls to visit in North Wales.
As far as Dolgoch Falls go, they are simply stunning. Not one main fall as with others but a series of Falls along a tranquil stream side walk. Multiple paths go through the wood or forest that the falls are in, head left after you see your first waterfall. This path will take you along the the course of the stream and up to the various other falls. It is and easy path with a gentle enough incline for the first half of the route. The second half of the route does involve some very steep sections one of which you can see the largest of the falls from.
As you arrive at the top you will come across the most idyllic of the falls here, like something from a fairy tale. Someone even managed to get a picnic table up here and build a little shelter too. I can imagine it come in handy in poor weather as you are now high up in the hills!
As you explore the area there are a few things that you may find on your way to the very top waterfall. We came across several caves or possibly mine entrance and a coin filled log! There are several walks around Dolgoch falls with the most popular being the upper falls route. The section is considered as an easy to moderatley difficult route (steep inclines) and takes around an hour to complete. It is a pretty circular route to, make sure to wear good footwear in wet weather!
You can find the parking area here – Dolgoch Falls, Bryncrug, Tywyn, Gwynedd, LL36 9UW. Price for parking as of Jan 2023 is £2 for 4 hours.
The car park is large and visible from the main road, it’s pay and display but very reasonable and plenty of spaces. A cafe is next to the car park so its possible to get a drink and a bite to eat when its open.
To the rear of the cafe are several self catering accomodation if you would like to extend your trip to the area.
